# Introduction

YouCan Pay API allows you to integrate your application with the various services that YouCan Pay offers.

It is a REST API, accepts form-encoded or JSON-encoded request bodies, and returns JSON-encoded responses with structured resource responses. It also uses standard HTTP status codes to indicate success or failure of the request.

Every API v2 request must be authenticated, with either a private key or an OAuth access token. See [Authentication](/youcan-pay/authentication).
