--- url: https://docs.youcan.shop/youcan-pay/error-cases.md --- # Errors YouCan Pay uses conventional HTTP response codes to indicate the success or failure of an API request. In general: Codes in the 2xx range indicate success. Codes in the 4xx range indicate an error that failed given the information provided (e.g., a required parameter was omitted, a charge failed, etc.). Codes in the 5xx range indicate an error with YouCan Pay's servers (these are rare). Some 4xx errors could be handled programmatically. ## Parameters | Parameter | Type | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | `error` | string | A human-readable message providing more details about the error. | | `Validation Error` | object | Contains children | | `message` | string | A human-readable message providing more details about the error. | | `fields` | object | An object that contains all the fields that have a validation error. The fields come as an array of messages. | ## HTTP Status Codes | Code | Description | | --- | --- | | 200 - OK | Everything worked as expected. | | 201 - Created | The object has been successfully created. | | 400 - Bad Request | The request was unacceptable, often due to missing a required parameter. | | 401 - Unauthorized | No valid API key provided. | | 422 - Unprocessable Entity | Validation error. | | 404 - Not Found | The requested resource doesn't exist. | | 500 - Server Errors | Something went wrong on YouCan Pay's end. (These are rare.) |
