# Video filters and window.youcan

* With [external\_video\_url](/themes/filters/html/externalVideoUrl), you get the embed URL of a `video_url` setting, with your parameters in the query string.
* With [external\_video\_tag](/themes/filters/html/externalVideoTag), you get an `<iframe>` for the video.
* With [media\_tag](/themes/filters/html/mediaTag), you get an `<iframe>` for a video or an `<img>` for an image URL.
* In JavaScript, `window.youcan.designMode` is `true` in the theme editor. See [Detect the editor when you need to](/themes/best-practices/theme-editor#detect-the-editor-when-you-need-to).
